Foreword: Just can't start the story without getting in my comments beforehand! And so our Story Begins... Remember the first episode of Sailor Moon? That's where I got it from. This will have at least two parts part one "A Forbidden Liaison" begins here. This story tells about Serena as the Moon Princess Serinity/Selinity. I am working on two other series right now... So we'll see how this little effort turns out.

Dedication: For the Princesses

And so our Story Begins... (Part I: A Forbidden Liaison)

Chapter I: Being as you've never been in love...

"Gotcha, Princess!" Sailor Jupiter's strong hands grasped the Moon Princess's long blonde waves.

"You were trying to sneak away to visit the Earth in secret again, weren't you, Princess," Sailor Venus accused her.

"As the Heir to the Moon Kingdom, there are things you must learn. You don't have the hours in the day to spend on sneaking off," the guardian Mercury scolded Selenity.

"Princess," Sailor Venus's voice softened, "You know you can't love the Earth Prince. We of the Moon are to observe, to guide. You know well that it is forbidden for you to even see him in person."

Selenity tossed her fine head, loose long hair flying. "Being as you've never been in love, Venus, you can't possilbly understand my feelings." With a giddy giggle, she teleported to Earth, and ran into the surprised arms of Prince Endymion.

"Selenity!" he cried, pulling her to him tightly.

She smiled up at him joyously.

"Princess!" Sailor Venus's voice rang over their heads.

Selenity looked around at her guiltily. "It's just so beautiful here!" she exclaimed. Smiling, she continued, "Look at the trees, the flowers, the grass! It's everywhere and the air smells so different!" She spread her arms and whirled once.

The four generals stood solemnly, awaiting their prince's command.

Kunzite, a bit touched by the lovely princess, smiled shyly at Sailor Venus. "Must be hard having a Princess so curious," he said to her.

Sailor Venus blushed. She shook her head a bit, moving her hair to hide the blush. Princess Selenity's words rang through her head, 'Being as you've never been in love, Venus, you can't possibly understand my feelings!' She murmered a polite agreement, then firmly took the Princess in hand. "Back to the Moon, now, Princess," she commanded.

Kunzite murmered to the Prince, "Are they all so lovely?"

Endymion looked startled, but continued to walk. "What?"

Kunzite stumbled a bit, realizing he'd given away more than he'd intended. "The people of the Moon... Are they all beautiful?"

"Well, yes," Prince Endymion replied.

"Ah..."

Up in the cultivated tower, flowers like those on Earth bloomed, trees spread their branches to the glass ceiling, and Princess Selenity looked at them sighing.

"They're not half so wonderful as the ones on Earth," she informed Sailor Mercury.

"Nor half so wonderful as the Prince of the Earth himself, eh?" Mercury noted insightfully.

But Princess Selenity laughed. "No, not half so wonderful as he. He is like the Earth, warm and colorful... His eyes match the oceans." She sighed happily.

"Now that we've gotten beyond dramatic poetry, can we move on to memorizing the what you'll need to know of the other Kingdoms?"

Princess Selenity just frowned in response.

"As you should know by now, there are many kingdoms in the Silver Millenium. This time is called the Silver Millenium because of the treaty commonly called 'the silver moon pact.' This is because your great-great-great-grandmother, the first of our long-lived Moon Queens, drew up and promoted the treaty. These kingdoms are the Moon Kingdom, the Mercury Kingdom, the Mars Kingdom, the Venus Kingdom, the Jupiter Kingdom, Saturn Kingdom, Uranus Kingdom, Neptune Kingdom, Pluto Kingdom, Phyrania Kingdom, and the Mau Kingdom. As you also know, the planets of the inner system, as we call the planets that rotate this sun, agreed to unite as subordinates to the Moon Kingdom. The Earth Kingdom, at this time, was nothing, did not even exist, and the Earth was barren of human life. As the first men emerged from beneath the ground, we aided them in their growth and that is why we protect them still."

"From what?" Selenity asked in a bored tone.

"Selenity!" Mercury's voice was sharp and she bolted upright immedietly. "This is not a matter for lassitude. There were kingdoms that did NOT sign the treaty, refused unequivically in fact, and started a huge war that devestated the universe for centuries. Only by the power of the Mystical Silver Crystal were we able to stop them from overtaking the whole of this galaxy. As things stand they pant at our doors, looking and prodding for weaknesses. That is what we guard against. We cannot let anyone else get the Mystical Silver Crystal--or the power of the Moon. These Kingdoms are called the Dead Moon Kingdom, the Dark Mirror Kingdom, and the Dark Moon Kingdom."

'Power of the Moon?' Selenity thought in confusion, 'What power? Our power comes from the Mystical Silver Crystal, doesn't it?'

Princess-Guardian Ami-chan continued her lesson, "Each of your Guardians is a princess from the now-united planets of this system. There are others, though, that you will never meet, as their jobs are different."

This caught Selenity's attention. "Whom?"

"There is Sailor Pluto, a descendant of Cronos, who guards the gates of time from intruders and those who might wish to tamper with the past or future. Sailors Neptune and Uranus guard the Moon Alliance from afar, in their palaces, as their powers of destruction better serve us by guarding us and watching. Then--"

"They must be terribly lonely..." Selenity interrupted.

"What?"

"Haven't all the people of your planets come here to live? If they stay on their planets they must be horribly lonely."

"I suppose. But I haven't finished. Last... Last is Sailor Saturn, and though you are never to meet any of these Outer Senshi, Selenity, you must hope to never hear Saturn's name spoken even in casual terms. Sailor Saturn, the Senshi of Death and Rebirth. She has the ultimate powers of destruction in the universe. With the words 'Death Reborn Revolution,' Selenity, she could destroy the universe."

"But she is Death AND Rebirth, hai?"

Guardian Mercury looked suspicious. "Yes," she ventured.

"Doesn't that mean she could renew the universe also?"

"Selenity, that may be so but is not the point. Sailor Saturn sleeps until she destroys. May she never awaken.

Sailor Pluto is the Senshi of Time, Sailor Uranus of Wind and Sky, Sailor Neptune of Deep Waters. Their powers reflect their names. Now, on to--"

But Selenity's mind had picked up on a topic a bit of a time ago. "The Mau Kingdom? Is that where my darling Luna came from?"

Princess Mercury sighed in exasperation. "Yes, yes, that's where Guide Luna came from. Now, on to the strictures of the Silver Moon Pact. Under it, you are the High Princess, and your mother the High Queen. As we Princesses of this system were also born with the star seeds of our planets in this generation, we are also your protectors."

"This is not always so?"

"For the Queens of the Moon it is. They give birth to one female heir each generation--and create a new star seed. Most planets in the universe have an immortal seed for the one who carries the planet's grace, protection and powers that is reborn over and over."

"Our seeds are not immortal?" Selenity looked worried, her brow creased a bit in concern.

"Yes, I don't understand it either--I just know what I was instructed. Perhaps from now on all the future Princesses of our planets will carry the seed, perhaps not. That is not part of our lesson today. The point is that the leader of your Moon Kingdom always holds the Moon's immortal star seed, just as any normal person has a mortal one. Your leaders have always been, therefore, female--and strong rulers. Your people trust completely in the Queen and Heir, holding them in highest esteem. Actually," Princess Mercury mused, "Your Kingdom is a feat of leadership. This affects, sometimes negatively, how your Queens relate to other Planets..."

Selenity tuned out the endless drone of diplomacy. She didn't think that the Moon should merely guard the Earth anymore. She thought it was time that the Earth be brought into the Silver Millenium, they weren't the cave-dwellers of so many years ago. They were wonderful, like Endymion... Selenity carressed a leaf plucked from a nearby tree and murmered, "Being as you've never been in love..."
