Jera is an aggressive fighter who joined the Falcon Brigade looking for a way to improve her skills and get paid doing it. She can be quite stubborn at times, but she takes her duty very seriously. Although the daughter of a simple metalsmith, her dream is to become a wealthy mercenary fighter. ("Served one ToD, Elroth Armed Forces, Falcon Brigade" looks good on resume.) Out of neccesity, Jera takes every opportunity to prove herself the equal of her peers.

A strong man with few useful skills, Soric joined the military to avoid living in poverty. He tends to avoid communicating with others because he fears they think of him as a simpleton. The closest thing to a friend he has is Jera, due to their similar pasts. The rest of his family, father, mother and a sister, still live in Valis' southeast quarter. (The poor section of the city.) He wishes someday to be able to take them away from all that.

A young mage with a grand dream of the future, but uncertain of the path he should travel. He joined the military partially in defiance of his upbringing, and partially to give his life a sense of direction. Unlike the others, his family is fairly wealthy, thus his study of mana casting was easily financed. He is still learning to control mana directly, whereas Soric and Jera have natural abilities to sub-consciously control it. Cortahl is somewhat of an outsider among his fellow soldiers due to their social differences, though this is more his fault than theirs.
Quick to anger and short on temper, fighting is Dolph's obsession. Teamwork is not exactly his forte, as others literally do slow him down. His attitude toward each of his partners is quite different, ranging from mild annoyance to outright loathing, though he views Soric as something of a protege.

A sobering example of the increasingly younger ages of recruits in the Falcon Brigade, Elen is barely out of his childhood years, yet already willing to fight for his country. Lured by patriotic propaganda and the distant promise of glory, Elen fancies following in the footsteps of the great general Christopher Leah. He lacks maturity however, and the field of battle is unforgiving.
